Recently, MSC Cruises released a virtual video of the upcoming MSC Meraviglia, highlighting all the expected features and experiences. Once in service, the cruise ship will be able to carry up to 4,500 passengers at double occupancy and offer more than any other ship in the company’s fleet.
Under-construction for MSC Cruises by STX Europe, at its Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France, the MSC Meraviglia combines state-of-the-art-technology, a love of the sea, design, comfort and practicality, and will be able to dock at any cruise port around the world.
Samsung will equip all of MSC’s next-generation ships with smartphones, tablets and high definition in-cabin televisions, starting with the Meraviglia. The cruise ship will also have other high-tech features built-in, including an augmented reality device for shoppers to try on designer clothes virtually and smart bracelets for making mobile payments and keep track of children on-board.
Sporting a new layout compared to other MSC ships, the ship’s Mediterranean-style promenade will have a 262 foot -LED dome, which create continuous light shows. All guests will be able to enjoy the three pools available and book excursions, shows and restaurants via hundreds of interactive screens located in different public areas.
Expected to be delivered by May 2017, the 167,600 gross ton cruise ship would emerge as the largest built for the cruise line till date. Initially after entering service, the Meraviglia will operate initially in the western Mediterranean before moving to the North American East Coast for Eastern Caribbean cruises. Coming 2019, MSC cruises will welcome another sister ship – the MSC Bellissima.
