Late last week, Silversea Cruises christened their new ultra-luxury ship – the Silver Muse at an event in Port Hercule in the heart of Monaco. The ceremony, hosted by Silversea chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, was attended by top dignitaries such as the HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco; Mr. Geoffrey Kent (Abercrombie & Kent Founder) and Mr. Gerald Lawless (Chairman of WTCC).
Celebration included live performances from the Sinfonietta Orchestra of Rome and violinist Charlie Siem, while the Chairman’s 17-year Daughter – Costanza Lefebvre d’Ovidio, named the ship’s godmother, undertook the christening honours by breaking a bottle of champagne on the bow.
Built by Italy-based Fincantieri, the 596-passenger Silver Muse is the ninth ship and currently the largest in the Silversea fleet. It caters to the most discerning passengers at sea, offering the highest expression of elegance and comfort while aiming to redefine the ultra-luxury cruising experience.
Suites on the new luxury cruise ship feature a sitting area, walk-in wardrobes, and en-suite bathrooms lined in Italian marble. All suites have personalized butler services. It also has eight dining venues including three restaurants new to the Silversea fleet, bars and lounges, gym, casino and Arts Cafe.
The Zàgara Beauty Spa, which has nine treatment rooms and men’s and women’s sauna and steam rooms, offers a relaxing sanctuary.
Commenting on the launch, Silversea chairman, Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio said;
“As the home of Silversea, Monaco was always the natural choice for the christening of our new flagship, Silver Muse, and it is with great pleasure that we can share this milestone with both the residents and guests of the principality.”
The evening after the launch ceremony, the ship sailed from Monte Carlo on a a 14-day cruise around the western Mediterranean. Silver Muse is expected to visit 130 ports in 34 countries this year.
